Pet Peeves

Come on, man!

In an attempt to interject a little humor into this melancholy march, I decided to compile a list of my biggest pet peeves. I know it goes against the grain of personal growth and development, but I’m human, and some shit just drives me crazy. We all have things that bug us. You probably have your own list of things that drive you up the wall. So, for the benefit of humankind, let's get petty people! Here goes nothing:

  • Slow drivers, especially in the fast lane

    • Abuelita, there is no reason for you to be in the left lane.

  • Leaving blinkers on while driving

    • Are you turning? Can I pass? WTF?

  • People who sit in their car and chat up a pedestrian on the street when there is a LINE of cars behind them

    • Pull over! Better yet, call them later!

  • Cutting in line

    • You know we’re all waiting and have been, what makes you think you’re more important?

  • Gate lice

    • If you’re not boarding until group 6, what good is it to block the boarding area and cause delays? Get out of the way!

  • Talking on speaker in a public space

    • We’re in the restroom! Do you really think your friends want to hear your urine stream?

  • Scrolling on speaker in public

    • Have you heard of silent mode?

  • Bikinis on the Avenue

    • Yes, this is a Caribbean island. No, that does not mean you can wear a thong at the grocery store!

  • Women who wear clothing that they really shouldn’t be wearing

    • Just because that halter top and mini skirt come in a size 26 doesn’t mean it should be warn in public. Think of the children.

  • Clerks who bag purchases with delicates on the bottom

    • How bout I put YOUR eggs under this bowling ball?

  • Overly complicated life hacks for simple problems

    • @khabylame has made a career out of mocking you. Love him!

And my number one pet peeve:

  • Loading the dishwasher incorrectly.

    • At the risk of sounding neurotic... seriously? What’s the point?

So, embrace the microscopic injustices that fuel your completely irrational but deeply satisfying anger. These are the battles that define us. Is this a healthy way to live? Definitely not. And yet, will we change? Unlikely!

I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to share your biggest pet peeves in the comments section below.
